Kit to Install Card/NFC Readers in Models with Legacy Board
It is now possible to affordably install a credit card / NFC reader in an American Changer with the older legacy board and new universal board. Here are the details for installing the kit in a token changer with the older legacy board:
The interface board is installed by unplugging the existing harness on the control board that connects to the bill validator. The harness from the kit is inserted into the connector of the board. If dollar bills are used for payments, the harness is plugged back into the new harness. No cutting or splicing is needed.
The kit includes a harness that connects to the telemeter/card reader.
The kit allows the telemeter to record the amount of cash accepted. It is an excellent tool for your internal controls. This kit can be installed with a Cantaloupe telemeter only if you need to remotely monitor cash accepted in a bill changer or token changer.
Card readers can be programmed so the customer can select the amount of money they wish to spend which is typically $5.00, $10.00, or $20.00. The Nayax Touch is the best option for programming. The screen on a Nayax Touch displays up to 4 payment options.
In some cases, it is possible to dispense bonus tokens to encourage the customer to make a larger purchase. If the control board in the changer offers this option, then bonus coins can be awarded. If the board offers 45 tokens when a $10.00 is accepted, the same will occur when this amount is spent by card or NFC.
Information on credit card / NFC readers is found here.
Installing a credit card / NFC reader in an American Changer with a legacy board (5 red LEDs) is easy with our credit card / NFC reader interface board. There are a few versions of the kit that depend on the existing wiring harness in the changer that connects to the bill acceptor.
The kits will connect to either a Nayax Touch or a Cantaloupe G11 using pulse interface. If you are also accepting cash, the existing validator can remain and the cash inserted can be recorded (programmable option). The screen on the Nayax touch makes it easy for customers to select four different payout options. It is the recommended card reader, unless you are already a customer of Cantaloupe. Cantaloupe allows for different payout options but it is more difficult for the customer to navigate.
The installation instructions include information on programming a card reader’s pulse interface attributes but needs to be customized based upon your desired payout. If the installer is not familiar with programming the attributes, we offer this service.
